Kept is a personal-finance app made by HustleHub for people in Canada. This page explains what Kept stores, where it’s stored, and what you control. We’ve kept it short and plain.
What Kept stores
- Your email address, and your name if you sign in with Google, so you can sign in.
- What you put into Kept: transactions, categories, budgets, savings goals, recurring bills and income, and the merchants Kept remembers for you.
- Receipt photos you choose to save, in a private folder that only your account can open.
- A monthly count of how many receipts and statements you’ve had read, for the free plan’s limits.
Where it’s stored
Your data is stored with Supabase in its Canada (Central) region, in Montréal. Every row is locked to your account, so other users can’t see it.
Receipts and statements
When you ask Kept to read a receipt photo, a statement PDF or statement screenshots, that content is sent to Anthropic, the company that makes the Claude AI model, only so it can be read and turned into transactions. Statement files themselves are not stored by Kept: only the transactions you choose to import are saved. Spreadsheet (CSV) imports are read on your own device and aren’t sent to Anthropic.
TODO: confirm Anthropic’s current data retention and processing-location terms for the API account Kept uses, and link them here.
What Kept never does
- No ads, and no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your data is never sold or rented to anyone.
- Kept doesn’t connect to your bank and never asks for your banking password.
Export and delete anytime
In Settings you can export all your transactions as a spreadsheet at any time. You can also delete your account there: that permanently removes your account, all your data and your receipt photos.
